Arghhhh!!! The war is near! Endless destruction! Salve yourself before it’s too late. I feel regret while listening to this split CD because it’s reminding me that this world is no longer a safe place for us to live. No sight of blooming flowers, beautiful scenery or lovey-dovey moment when dealing with this piece of hell raising creation. Now I want to get myself a worn-out studded denim vest adorned with vintage thrash metal patches and running around a circle pit in hoping this world would be a better place ever again. Good thing about this split is it does succeed to convince me that we’re still in 1980s and Municipal Waste isn’t even existed yet. Hell no to the scene kids and scenester boys; who are they actually?! The sound production is crystal clear especially for the Atomicdeath part, however the Bloodstone part delivers a slightly muddy production but the edge of aggression is similarly the same. Both deliver 5 songs each in the vein of crust-tinged thrash metal mayhem. Lyrics deal mainly about war and destruction plus some personal agenda. The cover artwork is a top notch with its eye catching and neatness. This is absolutely for fans of Exodus, Destruction, Kreator, Vio-Lence, Slayer, Sodom, Coroner, Sadus, Nuclear Assault and all those 80s thrash metal bands worldwide. Do not disregard those metal/crust influences from Hellbastard, Sacrilege, Hellshock, Effigy, Guided Cradle, Martyrdod and After The Bombs too! A [war] release of the year, I must say. Yeargh!!!

ATOMICDEATH / BLOOD STONE “Hellish Nuclear Destruction” (Blood Of War Records)

I am lucky to received this split cd just few days after it was released by B.O.W Records during a visit from Atomicdeath drummer, Remydeen to Faithcraft Studio. Without compromise, this is the best works of Atomicdeath up-to-date, but I haven’t heard anything from Blood Stone before. Let me say that Atomicdeath has gone wicker and wilder with this new recordings. Mr. Mokhtar of I Shit Music Studio really did a magnificent jobs with these ones. Heavy tunes, massive bass, and cataclysmic drums attacks. Faiz did a very great works with his throat again, but some failure in drum double bass paddles constancy can be heard here and there. It may disturb a little bit of your listening pleasure. But no worry, you won’t realize anything if you don’t know how to play the drums. Hehe.! A very strong old Slayer (US) and Destruction (Ger) influences flow in their vein. All of the songs are good especially ‘Wardrunk’ and ‘Kombat Six Six Six’.

Blood Stone, Singaporean thrashers are killer band indeed. They played faster and darker version of Thrash Metal. But the mixing jobs was thinner than what Atomicdeath has accomplished. Anyhow the sound suit Blood Stone very well. It is sharp and dirty and the vocals use a very long delay FX sounded like it from the brutal demo era of Sarcofago (Bra), Bulldozer (Ita) and Destruction (Ger). This is the Thrash Metal soooo evil that the kids never had the chance to hear it these days. My faves tracks should be ‘Based On True Story’ and ‘Dezire To Fire’. I highly recommend this cd to all souls who still glorify Thrash Metal.

"I've listened to these five tracks three times before typing a single word: this shit fucking rules! Malaysia metalcrust at it's absolute finest, ATOMICDEATH have recorded one of the best releases I've hear in fucking ages... take HELLSHOCK/AXEGRINDER approach to metalcrust, and then replace the vocals with the yowls of a true fucking hessian. Every song (there are four) is beyond epic, and I get more into this shit every time I hear it..."Bringer Of Thousand Fear" has a driving low end chug that will out crush any mosh metal band from Boston to Belgium - because these dudes are fucking punk as fuck and metal as shit and worship equally at the altars of CELTIC FROST and DISCHARGE. Four songs, but I wish this tape lasted for an hour. Crushing apocalypse crust from Malaysia courtesy of ATOMICDEATH, if this were from the US or Europe then I have no doubt people's heads would be spinning. SLAYER drenched riffs, but slowed down just enough so that every last drop of the power can be enjoyed...I'm trying to avoid using the word "epic," but I don't think it's possible. The singer has a slightly higher, 80s thrash metal approach (think first SODOM LP), and combined with the twin axe attack and heavy double bass heavy surges, you'll be sold on ATOMICDEATH before "Bestial Pain" is over. For a domestic reference, this tape can sit right alongside HELLSHOCK and STORMCROW, and I think that a full length from ATOMICDEATH could easily put them in the ranks of the elite. Missile Massacre comes to us from the fine folks at Black Konflik, well worth checking out for your personal copy, in addition to tapes from CHAOS DESTROY, WARDOGS and others. Get amongst this shit.

ATOMICDEATH "Missile Massacre" cassette EP (Black Konflik Records)

Now, this cassette EP is something miracle to me. This band thrashed everything on their way! Half of their line-up coming from Black Metal monsters called Demonical Crisis Assembly (DCA) and musically they’re good and produced lotta cathcy riffs to my ears. You may find the traces of DESTRUCTION, OVER KILL, SODOM, even DEATH ANGEL in their music. Maybe their brand of thrash are not original and their war conception being overused by thrashers all around the world. But this is what Thrashers do, right? Good arrangements and the sound by I Sick Music Studio is delicious for this genre. Good jobs guys.

Faiz, their bassist is a very humble and polite guy, I’m surprise he’s good at vocals too! I like their b& w front artwork, very Thrash I must say! Judging this is their first effort, Atomicdeath will go far beyond all Malaysian bands can achieve if they consistant in attitude and music. Come on, grab this piece. Thrash & Roll!

I’ve noticed that the tape has somewhat come back here and there to replace the CD-R that once took its place, especially when it comes to the more metal oriented underground bands. In countries like Malaysia and Singapore however it never really went away, something I (apart from all the good music) have always liked about those countries. I could debate the pros and cons of CDs vs. tapes I guess, but there’s no denying that a pro-printed tape looks and feels cooler than a pro-printed CD-R that still looks and feels very much like a home made CD. I’ve got nothing against them really, but I like the tape as a product better.

Malaysian Atomicdeath have put together this four-track tape EP and its content land somewhere in crossover territory with some not-quite-as-fast Slayer-ish riffs, lots of pounding drum-action, and even a couple of gang vocal sections. Not an overtly obvious hardcore punk influence, but still present in its own way in the edgy riffs, and the sharp vocals who carry quite a lot of attitude in them. I guess Celtic Frost needs to be mentioned as an influence here as well.

My favourite track - who also holds all of the ingredients mentioned above - are “War ripping skull”, but the remaining three not far behind. Now, with a slightly harder and darker sound, and maybe some black metal dirt added, their next release should send shockwaves across the globe no doubt.

What will happen if a crust and a black Metal band confines in each other and having a mutual butt-fest? Enter ATOMICDEATH, and the fornication spells only one word, ‘thrash’. Fukking ‘thrash’. Made up of members from APPARATUS(crust) and D.C.A(black Metal); the cassette only release “Missile Masacre” became a fierce destruction of stripped-down raw meat-style no-nonsense total thrash Metal approach. These 4 tracks are pure bastards of good ol’ thrash Metal whoreship, more then once the fondness for Araya and co. are shamelessly emulated therein. ATOMICDEATH are short, sharp, straight and to-the-point. Guitar solos are kept at a minimum, but what the fukk, here it’s thrash approached crustifully yours. So the aptness for simplicity and raw energy are here to stay. Solid.
